The renowned Beeswing
Inn is the sole surviver of the others originally in the village. One
other was formerly in the Birkby Road area. Named after the famous
racehorse, the pub has recently been acquired by Punch Taverns. Your

Cowton has a C.E. Primary School with a large playing field and great
views over open country to the south. It is located at the west end of
the village. Headteacher: Mrs. Julia Campbell (01325 378347).
The Village Hall, an older wooden structure, has recently been acquired for the village by the New Village Hall Committee and serves the village well for whist drives, concerts, dances and other regular events. |
